One Year Anniversary

Hello all. I don't intend to use this blog to post personal photos of myself but I thought I would post these of my husband and I from our one year anniversary shoot to give you a taste of a couple shoot in case you and your significant other were thinking about getting some taken. We took these last week at Blind Boone Park near our house. Its a pretty quite and cute park. So many flowers and plants there. This park has so much history, dated back to the Civil War which is neat. If your husband is like mine, he doesn't like having his picture taken. But he loves me enough (and he knows he's married to a photographer so he doesn't have much choice.)
When taking pictures, you want to make sure you pick an outfit that is complementary to the scene, not colors that blend in which is part of the reason I am happy with how our photos turned out. My red dress and Derrick's black shirt don't blend in with the trees. It's important to be comfortable during your shoot. If you feel awkward it shows in photos. I try not to make Derrick stand in weird poses and just photograph us being comfortable and looking at each other, which is usually better for guys anyway because they would just rather look at the one they love.
I'm very appreciative that Derrick was willing to get some pictures to celebrate. A year goes by so fast and in my opinion, I think it is important to keep your pictures updated; to be able to look back at that time in your life and see how you've changed and the memories that come rushing back. This first year of marriage has been great. Yes like all marriages, there are some ups and downs but I wouldn't have changed anything. There is a lot of growing that happens. Even when you think you know everything about the person, you are still learning. I love getting to see my best friend every day.
Please call, email, or facebook message me today to talk about booking your couples session. :)

Brendan Senior Shoot

Last Tuesday, I went and met Brendan downtown in Sedalia for his senior shoot. Brendan is going to play soccer at State Fair next year. It rained all day but thankfully stopped just in time so we could have our shoot. We had a fun time exploring the area. I had never been downtown Sedalia before, and it has some very beautiful architecture. Here are just couple of his pictures from the day.

Senior pictures with Emily

About two months ago, I had the pleasure of shooting my best friend, Emily's, senior college pictures. We had a great time shooting downtown Warrensburg. I am very happy about how they turned out. Senior pictures are a great thing to have so you can look back on a very important time in your life, high school, as well as college. Many people forget about senior pictures when they're in college. Some people get senior pictures done at the beginning of the year. It isn't too late to get them done in May and that also gives you something to give your classmates right before you graduate and use for graduation invites. Emily's mom made a collage out of the pictures I had taken, and had them at her party. They looked great!
Senior pictures give you a chance to express yourself. You can be fun and creative. Show your personality. I loved the variety of poses that Emily wanted to do, especially the one holding the I'm done sign.  You also get to choose the location which can be fun. I took a picture of my cousin, Joey, on top of a football goal. I love when clients want to do something unique. Everything about your senior pictures gets to be decided by you. Of course I will help if you need suggestions. You get to create your outfits, your look. Emily decided on a black crop top and red skirt to match her school colors and I thought she looked fabulous. Seniors, it isn't too early or late to book your senior pictures with me. Message me if you have more questions. Check out my Facebook page for other senior pictures, I have taken.

Earth Day at Powell Gardens

On Earth Day, my parents came up and we went to Powell Gardens for the day. It was free admission and my parents had never gotten to go before. Powell Gardens is huge and beautiful. There are so many species of plants and flowers. This was my 3rd visit and many things had changed just from the last time I had gone. Here are just a few of my shots from Powell Gardens. Feel free to leave comments and let me know if you like them.
